Who We Are

Troop 834 is part of the Frontier District of the Laurel Highlands Council – Boy Scouts of America. We are sponsored by Our Lady of Grace Parish in Scott Township, Pittsburgh, PA. Troop 834 was originally chartered in 1963 with fifty-five scouts on its roster that year. The troop was organized by members of the Our Lady of Grace Men’s Club. Since its inception, 131 young men have attained the rank of Eagle Scout, Boy Scouting’s highest rank. Troop 834 is now in its 53rd year of operation and is led by Scoutmaster William K. Segeleon and Senior Patrol Leader Adam Miller.

What We Do

Troop 834 meets every Thursday from 7-8:30 pm at Our Lady of Grace School. Any scout is welcome to come and visit. We also go on one weekend campout and at least one day outing every month, year round. Annually we participate in a weeklong summer camp, visiting a new place each year. In 2015 we attended camp T. Brady Saunders in Maidens, Virginia. For 2016, we plan on traveling to Camp Mountain Run in Dubois, PA. Check the calendar to stay up-to-date with all the current meetings and outings.

How to Join

The best way to join is to send us a note on the “Contact Us” page, then show up at one of our weekly meetings. From there, any further actions will be handled by scoutmaster Chip Segeleon. Troop 834 accepts any boys who meet the official BSA membership requirements and want to learn and enjoy their time as a scout. Also, feel free to send us any questions you have with joining.
